Reaching & Adapting Immunization Services Effectively to Reach Zero-Dose Children in the Sahel (RAISE 4 Sahel)

Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services is a non-profit, faith-based, humanitarian organisation that offers a diverse range of inclusive preventive and curative healthcare to all who need it as an expression of Christian love. With a resilient team of over 6000 employees working in urban, rural, and remote-underserved communities, CBC Health Services’ activities span Cameroon’s ten regions, offering services tailored to meet the ever-increasing health and social needs.

The Vaccine Alliance, Gavi’s 2021-2025 strategy is based on the organising principle of Equity, and its vision is “leaving no one behind with immunisation”. In June 2022, Gavi launched the Zero-Dose Immunisation Programme (ZIP), an initiative to identify and reach Zero-Dose Children (ZDC) in underserved, conflict, fragile and humanitarian settings. Gavi selected two consortia, World Vision United States (WVUS) and International Rescue Committee to implement the ZIP in the Sahel and Horn of Africa, respectively. The WVUS consortia comprise the African Christian Health Association Platform (ACHAP), Food for the Hungry, Core Group, Dimagi and local partners rolling out the ZIP in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Mali and Nigeria.

In Cameroon, the CBC Health Services implements the ZIP through the Reaching and Adapting Immunisation Services Effectively (RAISE) for Zero-dose Children project in humanitarian communities of the Far North, Littoral, Northwest and Southwest regions.

Goal: Support national efforts to achieve WHO’s 2030 Agenda for Immunisation by strengthening country strategies to reach zero-dose children and missed communities by 2025.

Objectives:

  1. Identify ZDC and under-immunized communities
  2. Reach ZDC and under-immunised communities with evidence-based interventions
  3. Measure and Monitor performance
  4. Advocate sustained investment
