TARRE received a vaccination team after ten years into oblivion.

It was a bright Wednesday morning; the heavy downpour the previous night had washed all the foggy clouds that always cover the landscape of Tarre, giving a breathtaking view of its greenery and beautiful hills. As usual, the women of Tarre were indoors, carrying on with their house chores, while most men were in the field with the cattle.

A month earlier, the Aldor – Community Leader of Tarre, had been informed about an eminent RAISE for Sahel Team visit. Though he expressed no discontent, he explained that his people were used to herbs. However, he clarified that they had to go that way because they did not have an alternative as they had not received an outreach for over ten years.

The RAISE for Sahel Team Community Health Mobiliser held a series of discussions with the Aldor to make him understand why vaccination is vital to ensure the well-being of his community. This made him work with the team in selecting the ideal day for the outreach activity and informed them of the best ways and places to reach his community. The CBC Health Services, through the RAISE 4 Sahel Project, sponsored a door-to-door vaccination campaign in Tarre in November. Following this campaign, seven zero-dose children were identified and vaccinated.
